CMPS 240 Web Site. Putting HTML In Its PlaceThis website applies a class and object approach to website development. At the heart of each web browser is the Document Object Model, or DOM. The DOM accepts the input from a server and translates it into objects. The DOM wants to see objects, not HTML!! HTML is part of the HTTP (web protocol) transport mechanism. HTTP requires that strings be transported, HTML is a method of encapsulating the objects being transported from a web server to a web browser. Since the DOM wants objects, why not focus on the construction of objects, their attributes and their interrelationships. Low level formatting is relegated to Cascading Style Sheets. This is exactly how this site is constructed and maintained. The approach is flexible, robust, and reliable. The current implementation of these resources is in PHP5. This page contains a collection of information literacy resources that were obtained in a variety of ways. The primary sources for many of these resources are two librarians, Katie Duke and Bonnie Oldham. They deserve the credit for what is good on these pages. Blame me for the errors.
