C/IL 102 Lab (page is still in progress but has enough to keep you busy this week.)
Lab 1 - Intro to Lab and Windows. I will exempt you from this lab. I will assume that you can send me e-mail and know how to use your computer at least basically
Lab 2 - E-Mail, Web Introduction, myITLab registration. Modify the lab as follows: do not send any e[mail messages. For the form to be filled out, add the following information -- list the last names of the other two faculty/staff whose last names start with sid.. E-mail a copy of that form filled out to me. I will give instructions on how to register for the myITLab with labs 4-8 below. You should do this lab by June 13. NOTE to macintosh users. The university in its semi-infinite wisdom has set up the course search page on its web server so that it is incompatible with Safari. Therefore you will need to use Firefox to access this page successfully.
Lab 3 - Web page creation - modify the instructions for creating a Web site tby adding an extra page to store your LAB homework on. So you will have a homework page for homework from the C/IL 102 class and a separate page for homework from the C?IL 102 L class. On any assignments that call for filling out a form or showi9ng something to your instructor (such as pictures in the photo lab or the paper from the security lab or the Web Search lab) these results will be posted on the Lab homework page. This lab should probably be finished no later than June 14. NOTE: The instructions for this lab indicate that you will have recieved a password for your Web site. This is no longer the case. Your password is your Royal ID (include the R capitalized when entering the password).
Labs 4-8 MS Word, Excel, PowerPOint via myITLab. I am delaying the instructions for these labs until the sales rep confirms for me the Web site from which to purchase the PIN for use of the Web site for myITLab. It should be confirmed by sometime today I hope.
Lab 9 - Library The libary lab exercise is available on Angel. It is a multiple choice set of exercises that may be done at any time. The Weinberg Library has a set of tutorials abailable at http://academic.scranton.edu/department/wml/bihp.html# Both the podcasts and the Online Tutorials for CIL Labs Fall 2008 are useful study guides to use before taking the test. You will only be able to take the test one time.
Lab 10 - Web Search Instructions answer sheet
Lab 11 - Integration The instructions are available from the lab schedule link. The data files are available here. The individual assignments can be posted on your lab homework page. This lab can be done at any time although you will need to know how to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint before doing these labs.
Lab 12 - Security This lab can be done almost immediately. The paper that you write should be posted on your Lab homework page. This lab can be done independently of all other labs (provided you know enough word to be able to type a simple document in Word) I suggest that you do this lab by June 17
Lab 13 - Digital Media -- For this lab you will have to downkload and install GIMP a graphics manipulation program which is freeand can be found using your favorite search engine. The logo part of this assignment should be posted on either your main home page or one of your homework pages. This lab can be completed at any time during the semester as it's independent of all other labs. The individual parts should be posted to your Lab Homework site. I suggest that you do this lab by June 24.
